So, Ellen got down to 850g over the summer which really worried me. Today she is weighing in at 1120g which is almost a gain of 300g since August. Elizabeth has gained 150g since she arrived in July and Edward has gained 50g. Now I have noticed that all 3 piggies are eating a lot more. Are they just reaching their winter weight or should I be concerned? I am very happy that they've all gained especially Ellen but I just want to make sure that this is ok?

Has it been gradual? If it was all at once I would be worried, but if it’s been just over a reasonable period of time I don’t think it’s anytjing to be worried about

Are they cold? If they were cold they may be eating more to conserve heat

I think if their heft still feels ok they are probably fine, maybe they are just settling as a happily married trio- nothing like a happy settled home life for putting on a bit of weight! If you think they are getting a bit porky you could reduce the pellets or even cut them out completely a couple of days a week, and feed more hay...

Thank you both. No, it’s been a gradual weight gain since about July / August. Ellen reached her lowest weight in April / May.

I don’t think they’re too porky and they get minimal pellets but I’ll keep a check on them and remove the pellets is necessary. They get hay hay and more hay during the day :)

They’re indoor piggies so I don’t think they’re cold. But yes, this gradual weight gain started when Elizabeth arrive in July :) She’s gained 150g since being here :)

I’ll try and stop worrying now and hopefully I just have a happy trio :)
