max has started eating news paper , i line the bottom of there cage with it yet max has started pulling it up and having a munch , is this really bad ?
thankyou ,x

My girls used to do this when I lined the hutch with newspaper. I stopped doing it in the end as the were just munching it all up haha! :))

All piggies do this. It will not harm him but try to cover the paper as much as you can so it is harder for him to get to it. I prefer to line my cage with towels so they cannot chew anything.

Pitch and Putt were paper shredders.... No matter how much wood shavings covered it, it still get pulled up and chomped. We just tried to make it more difficult for them, luckily Cookie and Treacle prefer hay lol.

Cardboard chubes or old kitchen roll tubes popped in may provide something to distract them from the ways of paper eating..

Both of mine love cardboard, when I put a box in the cage, they sit in it and eat their way through the sides. I don't know if they actually eat it though or just chew it?

If they like chewing paper, give them things they can chew - scrunch up bits that they can play with. The brown packing paper from amazon is ideal, or stuff paper bags with hay/readigrass etc.

Yeah I need to use up some readigrass. I went to a guinea pig rescue yesterday to get Kennys ears checked and I asked for a treat size bag of readigrass. She didn't have any small bags so she said oh I'll give you a free sample. Ended up walking out with a bin bag of readigrass for nothing, I tried offering money and she wouldn't take it. So now I have loads of the stuff!

mine are all paper chewers. It seems to be the daily mail they prefer above the local paper...xx
