When we have Bridget out in the evening for a cuddle and fuss we put a towel on the couch and she runs back and forth between my son and I, she particularly loves him and will climb on his lap for a fuss...bless :smitten:

Thing is she poos quite alot on the towel whilst she is out and she always erm cleans up after herself if you get my meaning ;D why does she do this? She doesn't eat poo in her cage, well not that I have noticed anyway

some thing to do with nutrients, the poo they eat has a name and they are getting the nutrients back, so dont worry its normal, well for piggies ;D

they do this its absolutely normal, its a bit grose but they do this to reingest vitamins. Theres a name for it and i cant remember :) rabbits do it too

Thanks for your replies. I thought that it was normal as I had heard of piggies eating their own poo, but she only seems to do it when she poos on the towel ;D It is as if she says to herself "oops made a mess better clean it up!"

I think there is poo and a nutritious poo, the normal poo gets ignored and the nutritious poo is recycled ;)

They actually do do it in the cage (scuse the pun!) but you don't always see them do it. The ones they eat are called cecal pellets and contain nutrients and partially digested bits and pieces that could do with going through them again!
