I have been trying to find inexpensive ways of keeping the g.pigs amused as they dont get lawn time anymore now its so cold and damp on the grass and I dont want them to be bored. I started to use toilet rolls stuffed with hay which Raoul loved to play with but he is now eating them and I'm worried that a tummy full of cardboard cant be good for him. I was hoping that he was chewing it up and spitting it out but no he is actually eating it. Does anyone else have this problem? It seems a shame to take them off him as he loves to play with them but I'm worried.

Mine eat loo rolls too, doesn't do them any harm.

Plain cardboard is a real hit with piggies. Does them no harm at all x

Some piglets like cardboard, some don't. As long as it's not dyed, it's perfectly safe.
The only problem with card things like carrot cottages is the noise! How can a small furball nibble so loudly:P

Ours don't have carrot cottages at the moment, and it's so much quieter in the evenings!

Loo rolls are fantastic fun and completely safe to eat.

I hid a carrot in a kitchen roll tube and put this in a tissue box wrapped up with pepper inside and it kept them busy all morning - with lots of popcorning.

Mine love to eat toilet roll cardboard. One roll lasts them 2 or 3 days, Spike likes to put one in the nugget bowl, we're not sure if he is being tidy or if he is trying to hide the nuggets from Peanut.

Thanks everyone I'll stop worrying about this then. Will Def try hiding tasty treats in them and in tissue boxes. Sounds good way of keeping them amused

That sounds like an amazing idea. So, plop a carrot in a tube, put the tube in a tissue box and run away before you get mauled?
Wait, how much carrot are hoglets allowed?

Yes that's about it! It was a small carrot, and both of mine are underweight if anything; but yes, my vet compares a carrot to a Mars bar, so a treat! I also wrap bits of veg in balls of paper and stuff them in a tissue box with some bits of veg between the paper balls. It's great to see them flinging paper balls about. I tear the tissue box so they don't get their heads stuck.

I hope you and your piggies have fun! x

Mine don't bother with the loo rolls... they're just an annoying obstacle to overcome to get to the treats inside! A Costa 4 cup cardboard carrier turned upside down to make a tunnel... now that's the best thing ever for my two, zoomies galore and the 4 cup holes are on the 'roof' of the tunnel so they peek in and out like skylights :))
