On another forum, lots of people were saying that EcoBed, which is actually for horses, is a really good bedding - is this true? I'm getting my first GPs, so I have no idea about bedding!
Here's a link to a website that sells EcoBed - not sure if they're the company that make it, or if they just sell it:

Also, my parents think it's a waste to buy cut up cardboard when we have our own cardboard lying around which we could just cut up ourselves... is it okay to use normal cardboard, or have they done something to it to make it suitable for animals?

Thanks,
Issy

It's just regular cardboard (as in, from boxes) cut up into small squares. If you can find a supplier locally, it works out quite cheap, but otherwise you pay a fair amount for transport. I use Finacard, which is similar, on top of a layer of Megazorb. The Megazorb is very fine and absorbent, whereas cardboard isn't, but I find a layer of cardboard bedding over the top stops the Megazorb from sticking to their veggies and being eaten.

Okay, thanks... that will save money and space, being able to make my own bedding, because there's loads of spare cardboard getting in the way of everything in the shed :)) megazorb looks good too, I might buy some of that.

I'm experimenting with different types of bedding at the moment, ive just ordered some megazorb so will let you know how that works out for me!

Id be interesting to here how the ecobed works out so keep me posted! :)

Okay, for now I'll just be cutting up my own cardboard but that will be just the same as using ecobed - then if that goes well I might buy some. Thanks, I'll make sure I let you know :)

Anyone tried Duobed which is a mix of dust extracted shavings and chopped straw.It works really well for me with a lot of piggies in a large 8x10 ft shed with outdoor access as well. Wondered if it would be okay for people with hutches or smaller accommodation?

Never heard of it, sorry :{
Just posting to say me and my mum have spent the last hour watching tv and tearing up strips of cardboard. It had better be good, because my hands hurt! :))
