How is Eddie this morning, keeping him in my thoughts x
thanks for asking. he was settled last night and this morning. nibbling bits of hay and taking syringe feeds well and passing poops, although they're still small poop mucus strings.
the vet rang just a bit ago to say he's gone quieter and isn't as well as this morning and last night. they're increasing the fluids to every 3-4hrs instead of every 6, and she said he brightened up very slightly in the 20mins after the latest lots of fluids and meds, but she's going to see how he is in a couple of hours and ring me back to probably go in to be with him.
thank you.
the vet rang again about an hour and a half later to say that eddie hadn't really brightened up as much as she had hoped and that she was starting to get a bit concerned. so i went in to see him. stayed about two and half hours with them and spoke to the vet about everything. she is really, really lovely. and the vet on call is actually our vet aidan, so she can consult with him and he will come in to see to eddie if needed.
they don't think it's pts time at the moment and seeing eddie, i agree. he does look very poorly but you can tell he's still trying. he wants to be with mollie and she's looking after him and encouraging him and he is responding to her encouragement.
i feel like he's comfortable for the moment and settled at the vets with mollie. and i can see that he's being looked after really well there.
of course, things can change quickly and he could go at any point, but they also still think there is a chance he can be stabilised aswell and may beable to enjoy more time. it just really depends on how his body responds. the bloods will be repeated by aidan to check how much has changed, and we'll take it from there really. x
Oh dear. Hopefully they can get him nice and warm again. Poor little boy.eddie had a drop in body temperature so has been moved to an incubator to try and warm him up. not that this new vet thought to tell me. i don't like him. knew this would happen![]()
ohhhh Eddie is such a trooper and so are you! sending good thoughts your way!thankfully he is taking more syringe feed so maybe he knows he needs it. even if i could just get a small amount into him each time, at least it's a bit of a top up of something good. one mouthful for him is 0.3ml of feed. so he's calm and comfortable with that amount at a time. so it's slow going but just happy he wants some again.
poor eds. he's getting frustrated i think. but he really wants to do it by himself now. he keeps trying and trying so he has that fight at least.
i've just ordered him some fibafirst and some willow sticks. hoping he will gnaw at them and that will help his frustration aswell as make him use his jaw and teeth even more. when mollie arrived, her previous owner brought some willow sticks and eddie loved them so i've ordered those particular ones for him.
he's eating veg well still. he is nibbling hay quite regularly and attempting bits of softened pellets and normal pellets still. he isn't doing as many poops as i would like, but when he does, there is a little pile of them and they're not too bad.
thanks for the support x
