Hi, I have recently bought 2 different edible toys - balls made of grass etc, and a roll that hooks on the cage made of wood, grass and other tasty things.

They love them and managed to get through both balls within 2 days. I put the roller in and they have eaten half of one side within 24 hours.

Are they eating too much? They are still eating hay, pellets and veggies and no change in their poos. Should I only put things like this in for limited periods of time?

We usually only put edible toys in the playpen, so they get them for 4 to 6 hours twice a week. But mostly we buy edible furniture like hay cubes and carrot cottages and sea grass hidey houses rather than smaller stuff which can be more designed for rabbits and hamsters and might contain seeds and grains and too many calories!
This is what 6 piggies did to a sea grass hidey house in 3 playpen sessions! Like they ate the whole front. Piggy daddy said maybe sea grass contains minerals they need, but I just think they are vandals :)

Thanks for the response. I think I will just put the edible toys in for short periods of time. It can't be that good for them. They also have various types of tunnels, tubes and carrot cottages that they are munching their way through and they do keep them happy.

Mine have edible toys like the hay house and tunnels.
My Merab would go through tunnels like there was no tomorrow.
The 3 girls I have now are in the process of destroying a seagrass basket and a carrot house
These are good for the piggies
