Hi. Just thought it would be nice to talk about our elderly pigs. Mine is a month off 8! So happy as she's one of my first piggies! My world

About 5,6 is a average guinea pig age I think. And if they are rescues they are likely to have shorter lives depending on the past. Don't worry just hard work and dedication keeps them going. In my opinion outdoor piggies are better because they have fresh air constantly and can graze all day. They don't have shorter lives because both mine went past the average age.

I rehomed my Marlon and we think he was about 7 when he died!
My last piggy, Truffle is an old man now, he's 5. There are days when he looks it, too.

Aww cute! Tbh my girl doesn't look old at all apart from the grey hairs. Quite active, when she wants to be. But loves falling asleep on my lap.

I've had a few elderly pigs. Both rescue pigs so age was a guess and they could have been older than we think. Bea lived to be 6 despite renal failure, ovarian cysts and a suspected abscess. Peter lived to 7 before passing peacefully in his sleep.

We had sweet Cuddles, who passed when she was 6 after a short bout of Lymphatic cancer - she'd had a tough life, but was what is apparently called a 'buddha pig'!

Toffee and Fudge are both between 5.5 and 6. Fudge isn't showing her age (besides her 'saggy bits' and 'spadey mole hands) but Toffee is a little, with her various ailments!
