Eli, the G"pig has a condition called malocclusion.
"Image result for what is malocclusion in guinea pigs
Maloccluded teeth are teeth that have not worn properly and over grow. ... These overgrown teeth prevent the normal chewing and eating of food and can cause sores and injuries to the mouth. Some malocclusion is believed to be genetic, especially in cases where guinea pigs younger than two years are maloccluded."
He will be having surgery the 15th to correct this problem, at Grays Harbor Vet and Dr Sonnya is wonderful.
Our vet is Dr Sonnya Crawford and she owns Grays Harbor vet and is an exotics specialist.

All the best!

Here are our syringe feeding (with a section on caring for dental guinea pigs) and our post-op tips.

Please try to get an earlier date! Two weeks is a long time with a dental guinea pig! Guinea pig teeth grow VERY quickly if they are no longer being chewed down; if you wait for too long, the jaw can get dislocated and the piggy can lose the ability to swallow properly with a trapped tongue. It is usually the premolars that grow spurs bridging over and trapping the tongue.
It is likely going to take several rounds every few weeks to get the whole system rebalanced and stable again; the trick is to not wait until it is bad and overgrown again and you are back in square one.

You need to syringe feed now and continue after dental treatment, as most guinea pigs won't eat straight away. Please take the time to read our syringe feeding guide. It has got a section with tips for looking after dental guinea pigs.

One of the best and most experienced guinea pig dental vets who sees dental guinea pigs from all over the country on a near daily basis is Simon Maddock in Northampton. He is also looking after the guinea pigs from The Excellent Adventure Sanctuary and has pulled off some amazing successes with guinea pigs that have been given up by other vets.
