Elliot-Pig has broken a tooth on his bottom set. He was out playing on the floor before, and he loves so much to chew the skirting board...grrr! He doesnt seem to be in pain and I'm going to offer him some supper in a while to see if he can still manage to chew, but what can I do? Seeing as piggies teeth always grow, will his toothy grow back?

One of my boys, lost one of his incisors soon after coming to live with me then not long after he lost the other upper tooth. He managed to keep eating and his teeth soon grew back. :)

I would watch Elliot-Pig when you give him his tea tonight and see how well he does. You might need to stick to veggies that aren't too hard, if he is finding it a little difficult to eat. Winston struggled with hay but soon got the hang of shifting it around in his mouth with just gums and bottom teeth.

My little lady lost a bottom tooth soon after she came to live with me and it never grew back....never caused her any trouble. She's also lost a tooth at the top but it soon grew back.....apparently the vet told me they grow 3mm a week....no wonder they need to chomp to wear them down. Just make sure piggy is not having trouble eating and if he is make the veggies smaller or I even grated mine to make it easier. Hope he's ok.

Carrot - shaving instead of chunks. If he struggles to eat, melt down the food with hot water and pop some on a plate so he's still got the option to eat. make sure it isn't sharp either and nothing is growing into hsi tongue. Cally lost part of his top teeth and i'm still syringe feeding him 4 weeks later :/ even though his front teeth are fine. Readigrass is easier eaten then hay. x

as beautifulmess has said break the food into smaller bits for him i've personally had a few pigs break teeth and they've grown back just keep an eye on alignment for a while

Hiya,

Thanks for your replies! His other bottom tooth is wobbly also...much grinding, grating and pureefying piggies favourite foods til/if toofies grow back!

Wobbly bottom tooth could be a bit bad, it might be falling out so I'd get it checked up on if it becomes worse, it could also effect the top tooth when it grows back, making it grow out of line possibly? x

Max losy his left bottom front tooth a while ago he was fine and ate as normal and it quickly grew bcak , as everyones been saying watch your piggy eat !!

Ozz had a wobbly tooth so the vet had to remove it * may want to consider having it taken out :)
