Just wondering if anyone had some help to offer.
I've been to the vets just now.
If anyone followed Han's issues, he's had bad stomach problems for years. But always acted himself and kept his weight.
He had a castration a month and a half ago, which went fine. But he lost a lot of weight since then. Now he's lethargic, won't eat, is farting a lot and basically mucus is coming out of his rear which he has no control over.
The vet has done an injection of baytril. And I'm now giving him recovery food. Unfortunately I didn't see the specialist, as it was such an emergency I couldn't make it over to him and he's usually late to see you and shows up at the afternoon so he wasn't around in the morning.
Before Han's op he was on antibiotics, and also was on worming medicine. He then was on antibiotics after his op to help stop any infections which I was paranoid due to his messy poo. He seemed to recover, and strangely since I got the 2 rescue girls, his poo was normal again!
But wham, back to awful sticky mess and it's worse than ever. He's never been lethargic over it.
He's quite cold and isn't doing much other than sitting in a huddle. He doesn't seem to want to take the recovery food but I'm trying my best to get him to take as much as he can.

I have to go back to the vets tomorrow...and if no improvement then it looks like he might need to be PTS.
He's a bag of bones and very weak. The vet felt his stomach and said he feels very liquidy inside.

I also don't know if I should move him away from the healthy girls. Might upset him, but I have no idea if he's infectious.

Was he given any subcut fluids? This helped perk fudge up alot when she had bad diarrohea. If his eyes become sunken and mouth dry he may be dehydrated- in that instance id take him back for a bolus of fluids under the skin, even get them to keep him for a few hours and give subcut fluids every hour- they did this with fudge at her worst.

Did they check him for gas?

If hes painful they can give him metacam, again via subcut injection as this will bypass the stomach as to not make the problem worse.

I have used buscopan to ease the painful stomach cramps when fudge was ill but this was a last resort choice on my part, please consult with your vet if you think he may benefit from buscopan but dont dose without permission.

I really hope he perks up soon, but fluids may be very helpful in his corcumstances x

He gave him a couple of injections...not sure what the second was. He felt him and Han didn't react at all so he said he doesn't think he's in pain, just that he has no energy.
I'll keep up with the recovery, took the day off work now. And I'll try get as much fluid in him as he will take. Hoping he will perk up :(

Really hope he perks up soon. If the diarrohea is just flowing through him then oral fluids dont have as much benefit as they normally would as its just coming out the other end.. This is where subcut fluids help as they are absorbed slowly. I didnt even think fudge was dehydrated when she was ill (her eyes where full and bright) but she perked up massively with the fluids, keep it in mind if his stools dont dry up soon x

No change in his condition other than he stopped passing mucous, he hasn't passed anything. I've been syringing him what I can but I don't know if he's really taking anything down :/

:( Is he taking his syringe feed?

Keep syringing him a little water also to keep him hydrated. Is he showing any interest in hay at all?

he showed no interest in food yesterday and it was a huge struggle to syringe him. I woke up every 2 hours in the night to check on him and syringe, eventually I gave up with the critical care as his throat started making funny noises and I was scared of choking him.
Today I took him to the gpig specialist. He's been syringe fed and on a drip all day. Still awaiting to hear any more details, but he's still going.
He showed interest in his veg this morning but didn't manage to eat any of it.

Bless him i really hope he rallies round. Prayers sent his way x

vet just rang. Han is still in an unchanged state. He's on fluid under the skin, and has been getting syringe fed but he won't swallow much of it. He did a sample of his mucus poo but couldn't find anything abnormal.

I'm so sorry your both going throught this your doing everything you can I really hope they find out what's wrong and can make him better thinking of you both X

I rang this morning, I think they were closed most of yesterday so I couldn't get in contact. Han died this morning, though he probably died last night by the sounds of it... The vet is meant to ring me to let me know any more details. :(
