Hank had bladder surgery a couple of months ago and now he seems to have a stone possibly stuck in his penis. Our normal vets emergency service have no experience with bladder surgery in pigs so does anyone know to an emergency vet who does or is it something Vedra would know how to deal with?

Sorry I don't know your area but have you looked on the vet locator up there /\ on top banner - you just put your post code in.
Is he able to wee?

Not really just a slight damp patch nothing like the amount of fluid which should be coming out of him and nothing at all the last two times he's tried. The only emergency vet open near me isn't on the recommended list and they cover 14 practices around here.

Seems these two practices have emergency cover? Obviously i cant recommend any vets, i am just trying to find others for you to ring and enquire x

If your boy can't pee properly anymore, then this is an emergency.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you and poorly boy!

How did you get on @Countrylass ? Hoping you found a vet who could help Hank? How is he doing now? Have you got some good pain relief for him? Everything crossed here

Our normal vet was good enough to ring us as their emergency service aren't experienced with pigs and suggested Manor Vets in Edgbaston but they didn't have an exotics vet working. I tried St George's in Wolverhampton and thankfully their vet was very clued up about piggies so we dashed there and Hank had the stone extracted from his winky with forceps at about 11.30pm. The vet also made sure that he could urinate out all of the urine that had been blocked by the stone. Hank polished off his pepper slice while the vet and I talked calcium so I think he was feeling much better. Mom syringed some barley water in to him when we got back so that we could make sure he was still peeing OK and to flush any nasties out.

He's booked in for an x-ray on Thursday morning with our usual vets and will be drinking a lot of barley water in the meantime.

Glad that you could have him sorted promptly before the backing up urine could cause serious damage. All the best for his check and further treatment!
