Does anyone know of any common ailment or injury which could cause a piggy to limp?

My girlfriend has found that one of her pigs, Emily is limping around and does not want to use one of her front legs. We don't think she has any problems with her feet or pads and it appears to be painful for her further up her leg, above her knee. It can't be old age as she is only 2 1/2.

We are thinking she may have had a slip or fall but its the first time we have had a problem such as this. We are moving her to an indoor house as it's all on one level and she wont be tempted to use the ramp in the hutch. We are also considering taking her to the vets tomorrow.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Definitely take her to the vets, hope she's feeling better soon.

Thank you for your reply.

Hopefully we will get an appointment tomorrow. She has had lots of snuggles and brocolli and has now gone to bed.

Hello again everyone.

Just a quick update. We still don't know what the problem was but the good news is the rest has done Emily good and she is moving much better and seems much more comfortable today.

It's strange but we will keep any eye on her

That is great news. Did she have her vet appointment anyway? It is worth getting it checked out.

No we couldnt get an appointment but due to her speedy recovery we haven't taken her yet.

We will still take her for a check up. She is now back in the hutch outdoors and is running around as normal.........and still the first one to the food!
