Well that's it, the last day of summer has gone. I rushed home from work to get my herd out and sit with them one last time, but I just put them away and it's blowing a gale out there now and the weather forecast isn't good.

The two old ladies (stella and guiness) are closer to 6 than 5 and both have health problems so this may be their last ever lawn time. Such a depressing thought. Still I never though they'd be with me this long so that's something to be grateful for.

Marmaduke made the usual pest of himself by making me crawl right into the run to get him. He never wants to go away. Priscilla's the only one that let's me catch her easily.

It's just been lovely having that last little bit of summer for us all to enjoy. They can't be left unsupervised because of the local foxes so it's something that makes me drop my usually rushing around and just sit out in the garden and read a book for a few hours

I know it's the really cold , dark days I hate:( as our house costs a fortune to heat and it's freezing in the winter:{

We had a lovely walk this evening with our dog through the woods, sun dappling though the trees and a warm breeze blowing. Acorns were falling on our heads though!:))

After christmas is the bit I don't like but it soon turns into spring again with lighter evenings!

oo I know what you mean. I put mine out at half 8 before work. I usually do it at lunchtime but I thought itys probably gonna be the last time they will get out for ages. They just love to run around in their runs but it clouded over suddenly late afternoon so i did what i call the "piggy plonk" I have a fleece in a washing basket and put them in there to transport them altogether back into thier hutches( 2 trips needed). Its good for in a hurry if it rains.
But this weather has been fab while it lasted eh, I was purposely going round looking for stuff to wash as i love to see it blowing out on the line, I even did my lounge curtains! LOL.
Its only 7 oclock and its almost dark :-(

My four get 'stacked' in my washing basket if i'm alone and want to get them in or out together and not leave anyone unguarded - you have to get it just right i.e adjacent piggies facing opposite ways or there's trouble.

I like doing that as well :red "What can I wash?!" :))

Don't be glum about summer! Autumn is the best time of year. You might get them out again tomorrow, but if not since it's cold you have a good excuse for cuddling them "I have to keep them warm, it's a hard job but someone has to do it" :))

awwwwwwwwww that would be a cute pigture Paula x)

It's such a pity when seasons end........tho here in OZ i'm usually happy to see the end of summer if it's been a hot one! :p

Hope your winter is mild this year.....all paws crossed :)

I know what you mean - mild here today (bournemouth area) so mine are out, but they're both 5 this month and you do wonder if it's their last summer :(

On the milder winter days I used to put them on the patio and lay newspaper out for them to sit on so it wasn't so cold . . . . and pick dandelions for them to eat, to try and make up for it. Hubby has laid a new patio this year, do you think I'll still be allowed lol?

Piggies vs patio :)p

It was still quite mild at lunchtime but I was stuck at work - the problem is going to be that if it rains the lawn won't dry pit enough at the weekend. Ah well.
