Hi I have just noticed on my boy Ernie that one cheek seems larger than the other. It feels hard just like the other side but protudes a lot more than the other side, hes eating and seems like his usual quiet self . He has been feeling a little light lately but then he is getting older and i don't know exactly how old he is as hes a rescue. I have booked a vets appointment for tomorrow but i just want some ideas as to what it can be as the vet isn't that experienced but its the soonest appointment i could get and if i'm armed with ideas i would feel better?!! Help appreciated.

Hi Jodiec,

if he is eating that's a good sign, it might be that his tooth has cut his cheek, I have heard that can happen. The vet will be able to see if that is the case. or he might have some food stuck at the side, if he is his usual self then don't worry to much.

hope he is OK sally

I agree with Sally. There could also be an ulcer on the cheek,or possibly,an abcess starting to form. You are doing the right thing in getting it checked.

Have just taken him to the vet - who idn't know what it was so has given me some antibiotics for now as if its an abcess or ulcer it should shrink it, and i'm just going to keep an eye on it as hes eating and happy! Hopefully it will go on its own.

good to hear he was ok at the vets O0

the antibiotics will probably sort it out. As long has he is eating that's all that matters :)

hoping ernie gets better and that what ever is causing his cheek to enlarge clears up with the antibiotics. glad that ernie is eating and is his usual happy self. hugs and cuddles to you and for ernie. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
