Hello, my guinea pig is 2 and a half, turning 3 in September, any enrichment ideas? He seems rlly bored in his cage, (were upgrading it on March 31st to bigger cage)

He’s 2 and a half years old. No partner, can we get him a partner? If so could we get another male..? Or would it be best to neuter him and get a girl?

Having a friend really is the best form of enrichment. Guineapigs are highly social herd animals and should always be kept in pairs.
Its up to you whether you get him neutered, have the six week post op wait for him to become infertile and then find him a sow or whether you find him a boar friend. If you do choose to have another boar, then ensure your cage is big enough - 180x60cm is recommended cage size for two boars as they are more territorial and need more space - and ensure you only get one more boar. Boars can only be kept in pairs.

Character compatibility is the most important part of a successful bond, so if you have a rescue centre nearby that you can go to then they will likely be able to help you find a suitable friend for him.
If you don’t have that option and have to get a new friend from a pet shop, then that’s fine, but ensure that if the friend you get is definitely a boar, and that he is younger than your piggy as that can help with acceptance (not a guarantee, but a younger boar will not be able to challenge him for dominance).

I know there’s a lot, but the guides below will offer further advice
