I’ve had my guinea pig for a while but I’m still new to caring for him. I was wondering what are some ways I can keep him happy and entertained and also ways to bond with him more.

The first thing I would strongly recommend is that you get him a friend. Piggies aren’t meant to live alone. They need a constant friend of their own kind. No amount of you interacting with him can replace that. So I would say first get him a friend.

If you have a rescue near you that does boar dating then that’s the best route. Best in mind boys need minimum 140x60cm, but if you can go bigger then that’s best. On that note, please can you add your location to your profile.

In terms of bonding with him, have a read of the threads I’ve linked below. But bear in mind that there will be a limit to the way he interacts with you. Piggies are complex little things. How old is he and how long have you had him? And how big is his cage?

I would definitely get him a friend first. (Adopt if you can)
To bond with him, I would suggest hand feeding and outdoor run time/ floor time. Play with him a lot, especially as he is by himself. I like to buy my pigs toys or make them (I would suggest cardboard loo roll toys; my piggies love them.) I also find that holding and brushing your pigs is a good way to bond, but remember not to scare him when picking him up. Hope this helps!
