I try to put something in Treks cage to help him be occupied but i'm running out of ideas.

I've put things in like a carboard tunnel, a scrunched up paper ball, a mount of hay for him to run amongst and hide, hide his fruit and veg.

Would he prefer room to just run around though?

Your thoughts and ideas would be great.

they love cardboard tubes and the waste pipe tubes and anything to hide under or on top of mine also like their veg hidden

Some are very lazy and prefer to snooze rather than play also.

Tissue paper goes down well in our house

Hehe.. try everything you do = there's some that like it, some that wont even bother and the others that sleep in and on them! ;)

I was worried mine maybe bored yet they are lazy piggies and mainly lie around (usually in their own wee and poo :D ). They got excited yesterday when I put in a new shoebox tunnel and shifted stuff around in their cage, spent a while tearing around and popcorning then collapsed and slept for ages! They tend to ignore most things I've put in their cage to amuse them, so perhaps altering the lay out forces them to re-explore and keeps them occupied?

I spend ages like you coming up with new toys to stimulate them. I have a hay corner with hay stacked up so high they make tunnels in it,I put in cardboard box with food hidden in it, I also have a very large log in there that they like to scamper over,

I have also got, a Little Tike's toy in there ,at the moment i have the green mountain that use to be a train set toy they love it. they run under it because it has tunnels that the train goes through.
I also put soft toys in there only by the day they are never left in over night because they chew them, but they do enjoy it,

Also take the toys out and routate them so it is always new.

Have fun ;D

If you like. It would sure keep them busy and you on your toes! ;)

Wilson used to have a wooden tunnel to hide in but now he is too fat and wont come out lol. We also had a scary incedent with both cindy AND wilson stuck in the tunnel together... trying to squish past eachother lol...

anyway!

My guineas like to hide under paper and hay... they also like toilet paper rolls (empty of course lol) with veg in it... :)

A friend is the number one boredom breaker! Does Trek have/can he have company? Simple things that cost very little money are the most sucessful 'toys' here! Cardboard tunes stuffed with hay get chewed, tossed around and rolled.... Cardboard boxes make great temporary hide aways/obsicle course! Screwed up newspaper to tear, hide under, and eat is also big hit!

Yep! Even a friend 'next door' would help! After seeing my pair together I do feel sorry for the singles who won't make friends! They cuddle up all the time and pretend not to be cuddled up when I look in on them! My single boys are happy but the pair look so content. But everyone enjoys cardboard tubes and my old boy seems to prefer a sheet of kitchen roll to tissue, apparently you can do so much more with it! He ruffles it up into a little bed!

For the smaller ones I put in little logs (I get them from the petstores, I'm not sure if they're available in the UK though) and they run through them, hide in them, and on them.

Trek is 11 weeks old and the only reason I bought him was to save him from his bullying mates at P@H. I knew/know nothing about guinea pigs when I bought him but he had bitten ears and I just couldn't leave him. I didn't relise when I bought him that I had to buy 2. He is lonely and will get him a friend when I have my nice big hutch. The cage I bought him is too small for two so come the spring when he goes outside in his new hutch when it arrives i'll get him a friend to join together.

I desperately need help on how to introduce a mate as i'm petrified he'll be petrified. Any advice or thoughts will be great.
