Eriathwens piggies

I had a tooth extraction 2 weeks and 2 days ago. I was very good and did as I was told by the dentist and had no problem afterwards except for some pain for which painkillers were my lifeline for 2 days. Just DO NOT drink through a straw and do the aftercare properly.
 
Thanks guys, back home, all went smoothly, was only in there about 20 minutes to be fair, took longer for the injections to kick in although they did have to give me some sugar water I was shaking so much.

Got to take my guaze out in a little bit and then leave it alone until tomorrow when I can start salt water rinses. Not looking forward to my jaw recovering from all the yanking and clenching but will hopefully be OK with some relaxing today.

I’m pleased it wasn’t too bad an experience for you. I nearly fainted when I had an extraction. Well done. You were very brave ❤️
 
It may not happen to everyone, but I had to learn to chew without biting my tongue after I had a molar extracted. I misjudged my bite and bit my tongue a few times quite viciously before I started chewing more cautiously. Now chewing is second nature and I have adapted 😛
 
So far I've only managed some cheesey mash, every thing else has been soup but at least it's something, although I do feel incredibly sick currently. I'd like to formally apologise to every guinea pig I've given metronidazole to, though. Not only does it taste absolutely vile, even with the lemon flavouring, it makes you feel sick anyway just for the fun of it!

Mind you it was probably my own fault for falling asleep so soon after eating. Trying to get another mug of soup down to see if that helps. I need to go pick up my 2nd bottle of antibiotics tomorrow so at least I'm almost halfway. I miss the piggies, bending down has been making my head and jaw pound so hopefully tomorrow ill feel well enough to have cuddles again!

Luckily honorary guinea cat Willow has been making up for it, as always.

So, thankfully the socket has almost healed, there's just a little slit there currently but the tooth was at a funny angle so it's fine, I found a different dentist last week on the NHS since I dont have £350 to drop every time I get toothache who says it's healing well and oddly enough since it isn't going to cost me another 140, the multiple fillings I was advised I needed privately, don't actually need doing 🙃

Anyway. Ive been back to upsetting the piggies now I'm feeling better and able to eat pretty much normally again and poor Oliver had a spa day today since his penis still won't fully retract no matter what we try, and pops out at the slightest pressure down there. He's had a shave down below to stop hair getting trapped in his sheath, he's had a good clean of his bits and bobs and a nice bath and blow dry. To say hes unhappy about that situation is an understatement 😂

I'm hoping the bribe of some nice oxbow orchard grass will cheer him up by dinner time lol oh! And now it's September, the little old man is officially 7 years old!

He's had his metacam increased to see if it's pain related, however his proprioreception in his back legs isn't ideal so it's possibly neurological. For now we're managing it unless he can find something in his guinea pig book when he can find it 😅 Olivers home, given himself a good grooming after the indignity of having to show his willy to the doctor, and had a nice big slice of courgette by way of apology.
