Hi everyone,

Sorry not been around for ages, been through so many ups and downs but I have some exciting news. My friend has had Ernie since a baby, he had a brother Eric, but he sadly died at 12 weeks old 8... she has asked if I can take him because she has 5 dogs and feels she isn't dedicating the time he needs for snuggles etc but said he is really friendly and eats from your hand.

He is an outdoor piggy so I would like some advice/tips on keeping him safe. Should I put a lock on his cage? I am a bit nervous having him outside but it is what he knows. He is 19 months old, and a teddy I think?

I am getting him Thursday. So now it will be just me, Scarlett and Ernie, feel like my life is complete now. :) Obviously I miss H&L like crazy but sadly at the time I was left with no choice but now I am a single mum, I am making it about my babies, both fur and furless lol and I will never let myself have to make that decision again.

Here he is. :)

Personally i think its far too cold outside for him at the moment, do you have an outbuilding or somewhere indoors which is cooler you could keep him? If he is outdoors i would fit a lock to the doors to prevent foxes or even humans opening the doors. He is gorgeous :)

I don't :( but I suppose I could get a cheap indoor cage for now. She had him in the shed but our shed is just full of rubbish.

Aww he is so cute. Why not have him as an indoor piggy? You would be able to see him much more. :)

Look on gumtree or preloved loads selling indoor cages cheap on there and some like new :) Or for new zoo plus they have ferplast on offer still :)

I think the ferplast 120 is £44 at the moment with hay rack, and a bottle. Or you could just buy a cheap metal outdoor run the metal one with no bottom or top on. You then put puppy pads down to protect your floor, then your normal bedding. There great as they fold up when you don't need them anymore. He is a lovely little piggy x

Aww he's gorgeous! Welcome back too, it's lovely to see you :) I think like others have said - bring him indoors! You see so much more and if he's friendly he'll appreciate being in with you! It's ok to move them inside from out, it's more of a worry to go inside to out!

Thank you :)

Getting really impatient!

Going to keep him outdoor for the time I am here, I am in the process of moving so when I do, he will be put in the utility room/out house. At the moment, me and my baby are sharing a room and there isn't the room, but it won't be long hopefully before we can get our place sorted. :)

I am going to buy him a thermal cover for the hutch and a nice cosy bed.
