Basil can escape his cage. We have seen it a few times now but this was the first time I caught it on camera. He can only do it if we forget to latch the cage shut properly. They are allowed in and out as much as they like through the day as long as I have the pen set up round it but he is being naughty when I go to fetch their vegetables now.

I will try to get another better video at veggie time today! Anyone else got a houdini piggy?!

My escape artist is 6 year old Bryn, who makes the best of any chance he gets! Never underestimate a determined piggy!

These really made me chuckle! :))

Love how in the second one the little piggy left in the cage keeps looking out longingly as Basil shows off by doing some laps!

I know. Poor Buddy just sits there. He likes running around but he won't break out. He prefers the bars gone!

That's so cute. I can leave the cage open with the bars up and my girls still won't leave the cage :) even if I get them out Pickle just goes and jumps back in the cage!
 
I've watched both videos a few times now and even showed my husband who isn't a great guinea pig fan and even he chuckled!
 
My girls wouldn't dare. I have on many occasion went to sort their veggies out and left the bars off- to rush back upstairs and find them all just lazing around. They will jump back into their cage but not out of it.
I love the way Basil surveys the area around the cage and then goes up to Buddy as if to say 'the coast is clear, you can come out now'
Which boy has the ear piercing wheek? They are both characters :)
 
Haha your videos made me lol especially with the music as well. :)) My escape artist is Pickles, she has had me running around the back garden a couple of times when I have been getting her in and out of the run rolleyes. Penny has done it once, but she is not quite as agile as Pickles and tends to give up and wait for me to pick her up haha.
 
Nugget was a nightmare for escaping in the garden. I became an expert piggy catcher!

Haha that's too funny! I had a houdini experience from tammy the other day, she's in the floor level cage and I don't close their cage, anyway she took an interest in my pile of collected poops and used tea bag tub (ready for composting) which stupidly I put just next to their cage, she climbed out and I noticed the tub had been knocked over(so thoughtful of herand can I say what a joy it was to clear up) when I came back into the room, then just behind I saw her sat next to her cage happily nestled in a carrier bag... it's nice to know someone was happy with themselves!

Then last night I'd hoovered and the tub ended up back near their cage again, Shy casually walked up to the edge of her cage, popped her head over and made off with a tea bag, I got it off her, put it back then she did it again! (I did find that quite amusing...)
 
Your videos are brilliant, what cheeky pigs....it's really cheered me up as I've dashed out (again!) to fetch the washing in during a freezing cold hail storm.

Guinea pigs are just great aren't they, life isn't complete without them! :)
 
Brilliant videos - really funny. They are much smarter than people realise - there is clearly collusion and planning going on there, a lookout and an infilrating agent, on a recce mission. I'd make sure your vegetable security is up to scratch... :))

That's so adorable and clever, some piggies are so cheeky but their too cute so they can get away with it!
 
Hahaha Basil is definitely a bit of a troublemaker leading Buddy astray though!

Ohh my its really awesome. And funny. My boys loved the video and giggle the whole time with Basil. What a smart piggy.
