Hello this is my first time posting on here so I’m not sure I’m posting in the right place.
Please help! My guinea pig Brussel escaped in my garden about an hour ago. I saw him go through to my neighbours garden. I’ve checked my neighbour’s garden and my garden everywhere and I can’t find him. I’ve set up traps around the garden (cardboard boxes with hay from his cage and food with a little hole big enough for him to get in) I don’t know what else to do!
I’m so upset and scared for him and I’m not sure how his companion is going to cope without him. He’s not tame and he’s only about 8-10 weeks old.
Can anyone give me any advice please?

Oh no. Whereabouts are you? Perhaps there is someone local to you that can come and help.

Oh no! Dont give up, there’s hope, please continue searching. You could leave a pile of food in his hutch, make sure cats foxes or dogs can’t get in...

Check with other neighbors if they have seen him. Maybe even put up flyers or post on social media so that others are aware. I hope Brussel comes home soon! xx

Thank you all for your replies! We heard him wheeking and located him but he’s wedged himself in a really narrow hole between the fence and the ground. We can just see his little bum moving around. We’re going to try and dig him out. I appreciate your comments

I’m so glad! I wish you all the best in getting him out, keep us posted!
If possible please move him inside or get a more secure hutch 🙂

It you put his favourite hidey and food nearby, he may be able to escape into it. He may just be trying to hide rather than stuck. Leave it a few minutes and see if he moves to his hidey.

Good luck

Good luck catching him. When I was a kid my first piggy escaped the day we got her. She was missing for 24hrs and I was beside myself worried about her even though I was only 5. My Dad spent ages looking for her, I remember looking out of my bedroom window that night and seeing him down the garden with a torch. He went out first thing in the morning and found her just as my mum was shouting at him that we were going to be late for church. He came marching up the path, clutching this filthy little thing that had been hiding under the compost heap to his clean shirt, very pleased that he had found her. Not bothered about my mum telling him off for getting his church clothes dirty.

Hi everyone! Brussel is back safe and sound in his house. He escaped from his run and I ran after him but he slipped through the fence before I could catch him. I’m planning to make both the run and garden more secure to avoid this problem again. We had to move the neighbours fence and carefully dig him out, he couldn’t get out in his own because the hole he was in was very rocky and the rocks were unsteady and fell on him. He looks a bit dirty and ruffled up and he’s not eaten anything since we saved him. He doesn’t look hurt. Should I be worried? Is there anything to make him feel comfortable again?
Thanks so much for all of your support!

I am so glad you got him back safe. He probably just needs time to calm down. Give him some of his favourite foods and leave him for a while. If you are still worried tomorrow you can pop him to the vet but hopefully he will be fine once he is calm.

Well done for finding him and as others have said he probably just needs time to settle after his big adventure.
Make sure he is warm and has plenty of hay, water and food, and I am sure he will be back to his normal self by the morning.

Phew! Glad you found him and were able to get him out safe! If he seems a bit off in the morning take him to the vets for a check up.
