As some of you might know I fell and broke my leg just over a week ago,so my husband and the kids have been looking after the piggies,on Monday hubby put them out in their run, when he was getting them back in don't ask me how but they both escaped,he pulled most of our garden fencing down trying to catch them but had no luck,he has checked everyday for them and putting food out for them which they have been eating, today when we were out the garden with the kids and the dog Travis the dog was trying to get under the shed, after an hour and a half hubby had caught the piggies,I have checked them over no cuts or grazes and they are now in their cage eating like little trooper's they have both been to the toilet. The baby seems fine but our older girl has lost quite a lot of weight and feels really quite boney, just wondering if anyone has any advice on what we can feed her to help her gain her weight back and if there is anything we should be doing for our girls

hi firstly glad you have them back but i would suggest taking both piggies to a vet just to make sure everything is ok if she's lost a bit of weight it's important to rule out pain as that can stop her eating. does she share a cage with the baby? is there any way to make sure she is def eating?
things that can help put weight on are carrots and maybe some banana
sorry i'm not more help but sure someoe will be along soon

Oh my god! Thank goodness you got them back - you must be so relieved!

Not sure what advice I can give you really cos Ive never been in that situ - um..... Maybe you should take the older piggie to the vets as soon as you can (know its difficult being the weekend). Otherwise just make sure she's drinking, to keep her fluid intake up until you get her to the vet. Syringe it in if you have to! I may be totally wrong but this is what I would do.

Great that the others are fine though.... Phew!!

Good luck ;)

Thanks for the advice,I have been given an appointment for the vet at 11 in the morning,I have been watching her she has drunk quite a bit from the water bottle, and is eating her pellets, kale and carrots and her hay

She sounds ok after her adventure! Maybe a trip to the vet a good idea to be on the safe side. Lucky foxes didn't get to them :(

We have been so worried about them, although we have only had them a few weeks we all absolutely love them to bits,my eldest daughter who is 8 cried with relief when they were safetly back in their cage, :)
We always see fox's in our garden so me and hubby thought that we wouldn't see them again, thankgoodness they were under the shed :)

So glad they seem to be okay, let us know what the vet says! Hopefully they will be fine, but it's always better to safe eh? ;)

OMG what a horrible ordeal, I am so happy you found them alive and fairly well. Defiantly getting them down the vets is the main priority. I am sure that mum will start putting on weight again after getting a few proper meals, syringe feeding her wouldn't be a bad idea, however, if she is eating I wouldn't worry about it, unless she is underweight. Good luck at the vets, I am so pleased they have been found, what a relief and well done to Travis for finding them. Let us know what happens the vets say. O0

How awful for you, worst nightmare, but such good news you got them back. Did hubby get in the neck?!

I'd just feed them their favourite food and keep them in a quiet place to recover. Sure they'll be fine.

Am glad all ended well,we lost Milly last year at this time my husband hadn't checked that the run was on level ground and Milly decided to go on walkabout,we didn't find her that day ,and we all put notices up and asked neighbours to look out for her,she is a self cream so might stand out we hoped!Anyway after much anguish our sons friend found her next door under a rock in the undergrowth,a little bedraggled but otherwise fine...phew brings it all back!Needless to say always double check when placing the run just incase Milly decides to have another adventure :)

Hubby took them to the vet's,the vet said they were both fine, just give them to eat what they like, they are fine today, eating and drinking really well, just need to get some weight on the bigger piggy :)

That's good news, I am sure once she has a few good meals she will put the weight back on in no time. Maybe feed her separate so you know how much she is eating. O0
