My pig cages are left open, always are, always have been. Until tonight!

5.30am, I'm awoken by a strange rustling noise. Sounds like some-pig is chewing the bed mats in the bottom of the cage. I pop a light on, tell them to shh and go back to sleep...

When the light goes off again, the rustling starts again, so I get up to investigate....and from the bag of hay, out wanders a little pig, hops back in the cage (over the side of a ferplast 140 tray, having previously led me to believe they couldn't understand jumping into a cat litter tray!) and looks at me like nothing's happened...

Guess who?

Maggie! No wonder she's so porky!

I Wonder how long the secret feasts have been going on?!

She is now securely contained!

:)) Maggie!

Think she needs to be more stealthy during midnight feasts :)) Ninja training needed

Of it had been Jeffrey, I wouldn't have been surprised, pretty normal behaviour! But the fact that it was Maggie shocked me, she's turning into a cheeky little monkey, such a change from that sad little pig that was signed over to Suzy!

That's brilliant! Made me laugh. I think they try to make you think they aren't very bright, but it's just a ruse to conceal their plans for world domination!

aw she's becoming such a character! I can just imagine her going home chuntering to herself about her fun being ruined lol....

That is fab! :D I couldn't even think about leaving the cages open, I think the gingers would just escape. They don't even bother with the ramp I made anymore they just leap over the side of the ferplast into the other one. Given the chance I think they would love to do a bit of exploring rolleyes

Well I thought I could! J & C are on top of D & M's cage. Jeff used to hop in and out of his ferplast 100 that he used as a little "base" when he was a house pig, before he had Cameo :))

The cage is firmly closed tonight!

Aaahahahahahahahhaha how funny!! And to return afterwards like a little angel ;) love it! She had you fooled! Xx

Ah. Buddy and Basil easily jump out of their ferplast. It's a game and they run around the room then put themselves back when they a bored/tired or when I tell them to 'Go home'. In fact Basil is so naughty he can chew the clip into opening and push it open then jump out. Cheeky boy. We have to use cable ties and elastic bands to keep our houdini contained!

That is hilarious! Love it when pigs are cheeky ;)

bless maggie, funnily enough a horse ran yesterday called maggio and I thought of her :))

Even though I think the correx sides on the boys home is too high for them to jump, I have seen tyrian try to jump ontop a stool before (and epically fail) but both him and lupin use the sides as a boost up to see out when I open the sides or to reach the grass in the hay rack so I dont trust them to stay behind the barriers, and also why the sides that open are not only pegged but clipped together with metal clips - just incase they try to see how tall they can jump.

I have also seen the herd do some pretty high jumps, currently fudge seems to like to jump off the ramp 1/3rd of the way up it rolleyes, thankfully none of the others seem to enjoy this trick but given the chance to exit the pen and help themselves to food outside I am sure any one of the 6 would be more than willing to try :))
