I've just bought a bale of short cropped straw from a farm shop which has been treated with Eucalyptus, the lady said piggies love it because of the eucalyptus but is it safe?
It was only on the way home that i remembered "something" about eucalyptus but can't remember what >:( 98)
I've looked on Guinea Lynx but found nothing but i know Vicks has eucalyptus in it & is safe.
Does anyone know?

Nooooo i wouldnt go there....ive seen the same stuff as Jane, a few people have lost some of their piggies from using it  :( :'(

I wouldn't use it. Is it is nedzbed? Nedzbed bedding is treated with Eucolyptus oil and it is unsafe so I wouldn't use it. I read about it here - http://www.cutiecavies.proboards61.com/index.cgi?board=bedding&action=display&thread=1169024952 unfortunately some piggies died from using this bedding :'( (RIP piggies xx) so I personally wo =uldn't.

Thanks for that Jane, i knew i'd read something. I shall be returning it tomorrow as it seems to be the same/similar stuff just a different name. I'll be informing the person at the shop too that it is totally unsuitable for piggies :)

The update on this bedding after ringing the manufacturers is that it IS NOT treated with Eucalyptus - the scent is a "synthetic lemon fragrance."
The lady i spoke to had up until recently had piggies for years & used this product with no problems at all. Her friend who also has piggies still uses it.

I dont understand why they need to use a synthetic fragrance, I think hay smells lovely as it is tho it makes me sneeze ;D

I think it smells lovely too, i think the fragrances that are used are to mask/help the odours :)
