Adult Guinea Pig
Oh dear, first bonding has failed one hour in, she became very aggressive
oh fluffy
they are going to give her time to settle then try once more xx

ThankyouItβs stressful doing bondings after a bereavement even for the most experienced owners. So add in all the Covid 19 restrictions and having to hand over your girl to Cavy Corner and I can fully understand why you feel youβd like to be a fly on the wall. These things can take time. Donβt lose heart just because the first piggy wasnβt a match. Thereβs a pig out there for every pig somewhere x
Thankyou I was very impressed with speaking to sue on the phone, she seems amazing and the fact they are still doing bondings for bereaved piggies while under shielding measures themselves is unbelievably amazingI read on the last page you said you felt awful leaving her in a strange environment, which I totally get however my Little went to cavy corner to be bonded with Peanut around 3 days after his friend passed away. I thought Iβd be the same as you, feeling bad or worried about him, but as soon as I got to cavy corner and saw all the piggies and spoke to Sue, I wasnβt worried at all. There was something about the rescue that just made me feel completely at ease, i just knew it was a safe place for Little and he knew it too. Sue put Little on the grass and he began eating his heart out straight away, even at home he had always been hesitant on the grass outside but not at cavy corner! Itβs hard to describe unless youβre there but not a single part of me worried for Little, and I didnβt feel bad leaving him behind. I didnβt know what to do with myself though until he came back, I was constantly thinking βI wonder if heβs found his new friend yet?β. There are so many piggies there too and they are quite audible so your girl will feel completely safe too. Itβs funny, Little would always turn his nose up at red pepper, he came back from Cavy Corner and loved itIt just shows how impressionable Guinea pigs are!
Me too but we will get there eventually, I will contact millhaven next xxOh I am so sorry to hear that
Iβm so sorry bonding didnβt work with Fluffy, such a shameReally hope your next rescue trip goes better! xx
Thatβs great news @Claire Wxx
Definitely all other rescues are closed anyway so lots of tlc for herBless her, thatβs such a shame. Maybe she needs a little time to cool off, perhaps you could see how she does on her own for a few days?
Hopefully the next visit will go a bit better for the headstrong little lady! Hope you both enjoy all your cuddles xxDefinitely all other rescues are closed anyway so lots of tlc for herxx
Good luck! xxThank you. Itβs still very early days but thought I would just enquire x
Shes home safely, she's had a cuddle and settled back in, she's very subdued and down more weight I think she needs a little break before we try any more bonding attempts for her, ill give her a week then make more contacts, sue willl let me know if they get any more likely matches toobless her she's down to a teeny for her 986g (she averages 1140ish)
xx

Sue did say she was eating grass and veg though so that's good, she definitely hasn't gone on complete hunger strike she is just clearly rather stressed out![]()
Just about to set offfeel awful leaving her in a new strange environment while she's sad but hopefully she'll come home a happy piggy
I have never left her overnight before βΉ can tell she's sulky as she's not running away from being picked up and sat perfectly still for her hair and nails doing for the occasion
come on fluffy be a good girlie and bag yourself a handsome boar friend
she's a very sweet and caring piggie once she gets to know someone she just takes time

Thankyou she is sadly back home friendless after becoming aggressive with all potential optionsAll the best! It is never quite easy entrusting your piggy into other people's hands.
Thankyou she is sadly back home friendless after becoming aggressive with all potential optionsshe has lost more weight too and is down from 1140g when p became very sick to a tiny 986g, sue will contact me if she has any more options become available and I will start contacting other rescues but I'm going to give her a few days to calm down and settle first
xx
Thankyou, yes it took a 3 week slow bond for her and princess to fall in love, they'd both had a string of unsuccessful dates so were likely quite the unlikely match but they had an incredible bondI am sorry! You are trying your best for her. If necessary step in with offering feeding top up. the weight loss is not yet critical.
I have a fair number of socially awkward and fear-agressive sows myself. Beryn is back to being on her own after losing her first (and only ever) companion Betsan in February; that feat 'only' took me 1 1/2 years...
But as Beryn is showing - there is a friend out there somewhere for nearly every piggy; it just takes patience and persistence. The timing for both bereaved problem girls with massive fear-aggression issues couldn't be more awkward, though...

I am sure she will find a friend eventually, she looks so sad

I am very sorry for yours and beryns lossI am still upset that Betsan died from a massive heart attack out of the blue at just 5 years old...
But that is life. You have to take it as it comes. Beryn is back to being frightened stiff when face to face with any other piggy.![]()
Unlike Fluffy, as an ex-single piggy (hece her social hang-ups), she is at least OK as a live-alongside piggy although Beryn's loss has been hard on her.
