Euthanasia cost? Right thing to do?

Hiya..
I have two 3yr old guinea pigs.
One has developed a lump on her back end and this past week it has grown very quickly.
She is still eating, drinking, playing and appears fine.
I've just had her out to play and the lump was scratched up and bleeding a little, I've cleaned it and put some leucillin on, assuming she'd done it herself, then I saw my other piggie chewing on it.
I have separated them and will get Smudge in at the vet tomorrow, previously when I'd phoned the vet about the lump I was told if she seemed fine, leave her be, is it the right thing to do to have her pts before she starts to struggle? I go on holiday in a few weeks and I'd hate for her to pass while I'm not here, my parents will be coming by a few times a day to check on them.
Also does anyone know a rough cost for euthanasia? I know it cost me over £150 for a treatment for lice when they first came home

Hi, please see a vet ASAP to have the lump checked out. The lump could be a range of things but only a vet can diagnose.

Before even thinking about having her pts, the lump should be checked find out exactly what you’re dealing with. I had a guinea pig last year with a cancerous tumour. Due to her being elderly, we decided not to have the tumour removed and let her live out her days. Emma lived happily for a further 8 months until she died of something unrelated. At no point did my vet suggest having her pts as she was perfectly happy and healthy apart from the tumour

Christian had a huge lump removed (it was the size of an egg) and it was an abscess. It took him around 4-6 weeks to recover fully and now he is back to his normal cheeky self. It cost just over £200 for the operation, meds and aftercare. I had to syringe feed him for 3 days and nights every 2-3 hours after the op before he started eating for himself.

I agree, please have it checked and determine what it is and whether it can be removed. It could very well be something that they can take off.

My girlfriend had a guinea pig with a lump on its back. The vets removed it and she lived on to be 9years old. And this was back in the 1990's Please dont put to sleep before you know what it exactly is. Gwt it checked after your holiday .seperate the pigs but next to each other for now

She is absolutely fine in herself.. Still shouting at every opening of a packet or fridge.. I'll speak to the vet tomorrow but if an op is the way to go it'll have to be after my holiday cause much as mum can feed and fuss them, I'm not sure she'd cope with any full on care..

Hi sorry to hear your piggy has a lump. Are your vets exotic specialist or guinea pig savvy? I only ask as you say when you called them, they advised you to leave her be. There is a list of recommended vets on this forum which may be more specialised for you.
Also Smudge may well make a full recovery in the few weeks before you go away as a few weeks is a good amount of time in a piggy’s little life. It’s better to get Smudge seen by a vet as soon as possible. x

pls see a vet and hope your piggie is ok.
Pts is really not a option until all avenues have been covered.
