Well like my title says it's been eventful, 2 weeks ago my father came to visit. It's the first time he's seen my pigs, I asked him to sex them just in case. As you can probably guess they didn't all turn out to be sows, Tinker & Speckle are sows but Daisy is definitely not! So I separated Daisy at once, but Daisy has been with Tinker for approx 2.5 months and with Speckle for a couple of hours. The following Thursday I had Daisy castrated, he has to be separated for another 6 weeks until all the sperm dies.
Daisy is now called Corey, at the moment Tinker is not showing any signs of being pregnant. So maybe for some strange reason they didn't mate. There maybe a chance that Speckle could be pregnant but I don't think she is.
I had Tinker & Corey (Daisy) from a petshop and they assured me they were both sows, so from now on I always ask my father for a second opinion!

OMG - it gives you the heeby jeebies! Fingers crossed for Speckle!

As a rule, I ALWAYS recommend people to have their shop bought piggies' sex checked - and any female for pregnancy; I learned that the hard way!

Gosh. You would have thought though after 2.5 months Tinker would be pregnant, maybe Corey was firing blanks rolleyes What a shame if he is and you have just chopped his nuts off! :(|) :(|) xx

Well its all a bit odd, I'd never seen Corey even attempt to mount Tinker. When I put Speckle in, he was chasing her all over the place trying to jump on her back! Maybe he just didn't fancy Tinker?

poor you, glad you are getting it sorted ................... and nutmeg, you made me laugh my head off :(|):(|)

i have also heard of there being the occasional sow and boar who just dont mate purely because they dont get along or whatever the reason,i hope your little sow isnt pregnant but if she is you have as much support as you both will need from here, best wishes xxxxxxxx
