It's strange how some guineas sale through life without problems and yet others receiving the same care have one thing wrong after another :(
One of my girls Tula is one of these...

She came in a round about way from a breeder that didn't want her after she had problems littering. She had a cyst on her back that was never mentioned and a dry skin/thinning hair. I treated as usual her skin and it improved, but her hair has always been thinnish.
Eventually the cyst grew to the point that it needed removing.
She has had a couple more grow and I am watching these closely.
To me she looks and acts like a little old lady pig and now I'm very doubtful that she is not considerably older than the breeder said ::)

She developed an abscess about a year ago, saw the vet, was treated and seemed fine, but today I discover it is back. So we'll be off to the vet again. She has "fatty eye" and so has always looked the picture of abject misery, poor little soul.

I've bathed and cleaned her abscess and given her some Baytril that I had from another guinea pig (yes I know ::) )
She's back on the Bach Remedies and has vitamin C +zinc and is on the echinacea again.

Don't you wish they could talk, she is supposedly 3 1/2.....

Poor little love - it is such a shame.

I have (touch wood) been ok with my piggys. I do however, have a dog who has always been very sickly. I am lucky if he goes a month without needing a vet appointment. It has been like this since he was 10 weeks old (he is the runt) and despite only being 6 next month, he looks and acts like he is about 100! ::)

Oh Barbara that is sad, but if she hadn't had a mummy slave like you she would not be here today :-*
So all your hard work and persistence has kept this little girl going what a wonderful life she's had with you, lucky Tula :-*
Good luck at the vets we'll keep our paws crossed for you, take care :-* :-*

Ohhh bless her little socks - she sounds gorgeous - i love the under'pig' heheee ;)
