Hey! Just wondering how much fresh salad everyone feeds their piggies? I obviously know the particular types of veg and restricted fruit they can have but i read a post earlier today that someone had written 'twice weekly veggies'. I've been providing my newest rescue piggies with fresh veg/herbs etc twice a day in a medium sized lunchbox... (obviously on top of endless hay and nuggets)

I've always wondered the same thing.

I found out I was overfeeding the boys by giving them two large amounts a day (morn and night). They only get one amount now at night and occasionally a nibble for a treat during the day.

I give mine veggies every morning and sometimes a few little pieces during the day if I'm feeling generous haha! X

We chop up a mix of different veggies and they have a bowl to share every evening, and the occasional bit of parsley some days x

I feed mine fruit and veg twice a day - morning and evening.
They also have access to unlimited hay, and nuggets at lunch time.
They're all a healthy weight as they get plenty of exercise.

Should i be restricting their nuggets then? Looking after a piggie these days has changed so much from many years ago! Just when i think i've learnt everything i find out something new!

We recommend about 1 cupful/50g of mixed veg per piggy per day.
Unlimited pellets until a piggy has most of its growth between 6-9 months old, then very slowly reduced to the hafl or handful a fully mature piggy needs from 12-15 months old.

Up to 80% of the food should come from hay. The ratio should be about 80% hay : 10% veg :10% pellets for optimal digestion.
