Exciting news (hopefully)

Okay okay I can’t hold it in, I’m too excited!
Potentially..if the meet and greet goes well..Yes a new piggie! :drool:

A lady on a local Guinea pig page was looking for a new home for her 2 year old female piggie who lost her friend a while back. And they just felt awful that she was now all alone but didn’t want to continue the piggie cycle. They sound like lovely people who spoilt their piggies, lived indoors etc. so we’re looking for an equally good home for her. They are bringing her to my place on Saturday evening and we are going to see if she gets along with my pigs. Ideally I would like her to make friends with Emily and Lion as I feel Emily could do with a ‘girlfriend’.
Olive and Newton are too set in their ways, and have gone through a lot of change and loss over the years and I’d prefere not to put that stress of meeting newbies on Olive anymore.
Maude and Henry is a possibility, Henry would love another girlfriend especially one his own age! But Maude is an Old lady and might not be bothered with a newbie, plus she gets bullied easily.
So fingers crossed Emily and Lion. 🤞

Of course it would be better if they could meet gradually, living side by side for a while. But her owners and me of course, just want to make sure everyone’s happy.
I’ll set up a neutral meeting pen in the lounge.

The meeting went really well!
The family were SO lovely! It’s so refreshing to meet genuine, nice, kind people. Who had their beloved piggies best interest at heart.
They loved my piggie room and left their piggie here feeling happy that they were doing the right thing.

I set up a meeting pen in the lounge room, a place that’s totally neutral for the 3 of them to meet. Emily was quite shell shocked at the whole thing because she’s quite a quiet and shy pig who suddenly had 6 people watching them and she had no where to hide, So she didn’t really react much to new pig at first. Once all the piggies felt calmer they started sniffing and checking each other out. All went pretty good. The family stayed for about 30-40 mins. And then I left the pigs in the meeting area for another 2 hours. Only a couple of tellings off but nothing dramatic at all.
I’ve just cleaned out the cage and put them all away.
We’ve had a few bigger telling off, New girl is very bossy and confident. She tells Lion and Emily to MOVE and I’m BOSS, but that’s it once she’s told them she just lets them be. She’s not chasing after them and being a constant meany. She’s just letting them know she wants to be too dog.
Emily is desperate to be her friend, she thinks she’s fascinating.. but then gets told off for prying too much.
Lion is currently scared of her, and they are clashing a bit. She does keep having a bit of a go at him. But hopefully she’ll give it up soon 🤞

Buttons is her name, and I think I’ll keep it as that. Shes 2 years old and a very human friendly and chilled out pig. She’s absolutely stunning and totally adorable . And huge!

I’ve only got the bendy bridge and soft fleece tunnel in the cage, No other dangerous hideys for a few days.

Fingers crossed she lets Lion and Emily relax a little bit more, and that things continue to go well.
 
Ah that’s great news 🥰 hopefully now Buttons feels she is top pig all will settle down ❤️❤️❤️
