Exercise for my Piggies

What is the best way to get exercise for my piggies? The only way I’ve heard is to let them roam in my bathtub a bit. Are there any other ways to do this. Also is a guinea pig harness safe for them? I’ve heard a lot of people say not to get a harness, because it hurts the piggies,
 
Harnesses are a definite no no for guinea pigs.
You risk injuring them if you use one, so please avoid them at all costs.

How big is their cage?
Ideally they should have enough space to move around and get some exercise.

The other thing a lot of people do is to set up a floor time pen and fill it with different things, so they can spend some time outsdie of their cage but still safley contained.
I made one from spare C&C grids cable tied together (so it folds flat when I am not using it) and I put this in my living room with a shower curtain on the floor and a fleece blanket on top (for the piggies to stand on).
I fill it with different toys and hideys to give them a change of scenery every now and then.

Thanks this really helps. I was just thinking of making a play pen of them out of cardboard. I also have a quite large laundry basket. Can I put a towel on it and use that? It has enough space for them
