On advice I bought Johnsons insecticidal shampoo and bathed all five girls to clear the lice. I also sprayed the cage with insect spray and disinfected yet i can't shake the feeling I've missed something.

I checked everyone for lice before the bath and found lice on Milkshake as well as Pixie. Everyone else seemed clear although except for Rosie they are mostly dark coloured. Will I need to bathe them all again in a week to be clear of lice? Other than the johnsons shampoo I have ordered lice and easy from gorgeous guineas

Also should I throw out the hay I have that I assume the lice came from?

I feel like a bad piggy slave at the moment. It just brings back memories of a bunny I had many years ago who had flystrike. Just can't shake that icky feeling.

I don't have any experience with this but please don't blame yourself it could happen to anyone. Your helping them now and thats all that matters. I'm sure someone else will be able to answer your questions :)

Personally I would get rid of the hay if it was me. Are they running lice or static hay lice (the little black specks on the hair shaft?)

I would think you would need to bathe them again, not sure what the instructions are on your product though, but usually like human lice you need to break their cycle, so weekly for 3 weeks usually kills the hatchers :)) I used Flea or Die shampoo, one a month or 6 weeks & I never had any trouble with static lice after that.
