Pepperdog
Adult Guinea Pig
I couldnt put it off any longer, the pigs needed cleaning out and although recovering from op number 3 I thought if I was doing one pen (the herd), I might as well do the boys first and then they are all clean and fresh.
I have to say I am loving the puppy pads, it made it much easier than the newspaper and now have decided to use them under towels in the herds pen, only using paper for the litter trays and one pack of 10 did both pens.
What would normally be a quick 20 mins per pen took me 1 hour in total as I couldnt go as quick, was a lot of effort to do but it couldnt be left any longer for the herd it was just over a week and that was not fair, they were getting a little whiffy too (and as they are on fleece and spot cleaned daily its not like they were in their own mess). Cant believe how hard work something so simple is when your not 100%.
But I was rewarded by a lovely cuddle with lupin who when in the mood for it will often let me scritch his coronet and then stroke him while in the pen without me holding him, tyrian isnt as willing to be touched this way but he did give me a lovely cuddle after lupin had :<> But what was even more shocking was fudge and crystal being silly while I was removing the old bedding and placing in the new had "hidden" inside a lounger together and when I moved it out towards me (as I needed to change it and get them out of it) they refused to leave it and even as I stroked both of them they stayed put :o not sure fudge enjoyed any of the stroking, she did her usual squeeking of alarm (she isnt being hurt or uncomfortable, she is just a right madam that hates being touched but perfectly happy to take food off you) and eventually had enough and escaped - not that it was hard as I wasnt stopping either of them.
Crystal who does enjoy a good stroke once caught stayed lying down longer (she I can touch her nose in the pen, she is a little more handleable) was chatting away to me as she had a fuss but then I noticed she had a tickly patch and it irritated her in that area when I touched her so she will be coming out later tonight (when the heating is on) for a shampoo for her sensitive skin and then I will be dosing the herd a few days after with ivormec to just make sure its not any little bugs as a precaution. My darling crystal has really sensitive skin and after a long battle in 2011/12 with her skin and erruptions of baldness, mites and all sorts of problems it is imperative that I jump on any sign of irritation with her else it will be back to square one with her.
Photos are sure to follow of her wash and dry session, if I am washing one, I might subject the boys to their first shampoo and set
