Not sure if this is the correct section...

I haven't decided for definite if I will expand my herd or not, but these are just a few questions I keep wondering about when thinking about it.

History:
I currently have two 3 month old sows. I initially planned on two, then hubby wanted three, then they were in with boars when I got them at 5 weeks old so I opted for two in case they were pg. We just finished pregnancy watch 2 days ago :tu:

We don't have any small animal rescue in my city, in fact I only know of one in the country and that's a 2 hour flght / 12 hour drive away so not an option. So pet shops are my only option.

I initially wanted adult pigs, but the shop I finally found gp's at only had 5 week old babies so that's what I got. But the shop I now buy my hay from seems to periodically have adults. There's the most gorgeous tame looking adult sow there at the momemt. I nearly bought her about 3 weeks ago, she just looked so tame and friendly and lovely. But she also looked very pg. When I went back for more hay this weekend there were 2 or 3 babies in with her, apparently just 2 weeks old, so clearly id guessed correctly.
Now I'm contemplating going back in a week or so to see if shes available. Thought if one baby is a girl i might take mom and baby.

So, questions!
Given that I currently have two 3 month old sows, would it be better to add one adult, making a total of 3 in the herd, or one adult and one very young baby, totalling 4?

What would the space requirements be for 3? And 4? If I can't increase length enough, would increasing width help?
Like how many could I fit in a 4 x 3 C&C? Or 5x3?
(I currently have 4x2)
The guides all increase length, keeping width at 2 grids, but surely widening would also help? I'm not really sure how much longer I can manage.

I would take mum and girl baby.I think a 5X3 would be fine for them.If there are two girl babies I would be tempted to take her and the babies so no sows left on their own.
