Hello! I’ve had my 2 boys for about 6 months now. They get along really well, but I’d like to get some more. I really want a female but I know bringing one in might get the two boys aggressive with one another. Would it be recommended to get 2 females? Or should I get another male? I have a large cage that I purchased from the guinea pig cage store, and it’s suitable for up to 4.

If you want to get 2 sows then can you house them in a separate room to the boars? If you can then that would work. But in same room the scent of sow could cause a spark of friction between the boars! If you did get sows, always handle the boars first to prevent them getting the sow scent.

A 3rd male would not work. Boars need to be kept in pairs or neutered to live with sows. If the 2 are getting along well this is very good! Wouldn't do anything that could cause a relationship change.

Thank you! I don’t have another room to keep a different pair of piggies since I live with my family and my room itself isn’t very large.

Another pair of boys would probably be best if you want to get more piggies, you can stack cages one on top of the other or one on table one under however best it works with the space you have. Each pair of boys should always be kept separated too, don't give them floor time together as if they meet dominance would start and that could lead to friction too.

If you get any more piggies they must be kept in a separate cage. It’s irrelevant the size of cage you have is irrelevant as you cannot put any piggies in the same cage with your current boar pair - boars can only be kept in pairs. Putting any piggies in the same cage will break the bond between your current boars and cause fights.
