My friend has three adorable piggies but she has noticed that Pepper has two extra claws (one on each front foot). It doesn't seem to bother her but does look a little strange. It appears to have dead skin around and on it. Any ideas?

Also one of the other piggies, Poppy seems to have an extra toe on one of her back feet. The vet suggested a small operation to remove it but again it doesn't seem to bother her and just looks a bit strange. Any ideas what this is either?

They seem fine in themselves we're just curious as to what they are and if the piggies do need any treatment.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Just read the 'guinea pig quirks' thread and discovered what both things are.

So thanks to whoever posted that thread. (Sorry I can't remember who it was)

TBH if they arent causing them any problems, then I would just leave them.

If theyre not loose and wont get caught on anything, then they should be ok

Extra toes in the front is quite unusual; extra toes on the back feet are not all that frequent.

Check how loosely they are attached; if necessary, have them remeoved by a vet (please don't try this at home).
