Is this an extra toe or another nail growing out of Jasmine's paw?! This is the best I could do one-handed. I thought it might just be a scab, but it appears to have a nail at the end looks a bit like an extra toe which has shrivelled and died. I've not seen it before! Any ideas? I've just weighed her and she's on the heavy end of normal, so otherwise fine.

Hi! Foot spurs are very common; they are just a dead skin growth. Please ask a vet or nurse to cut them off for you if they pose a risk of catching and ripping live skin; otherwise leave them be as they will grow back. Do not cut too close to live skin; it is very painful and crippling.

Phew! I've not heard much about spurs, and I hadn't seen the "extra toe" on Jasmine before either. It was the curly bit shaped like a nail which made me worry! The photos were the best I could do with one hand!
