I've just heard of someone buying a GP from a pet shop with an extra toe on both back feet. It was recommended they were amputated as they can cause problems in later life. Just wondered if anyone had heard of this and if this is normally the right treatment?

I've had several piggies here with extra toes and none have never needed any intervention :) - it bothered me more than it bothered them! :))

My Huxley (RIP) had an extra toe on one back foot, held on by the tiniest bit of skin. It had a blood supply & as it never bothered him i left well alone :)

I've had lots of guinea pigs with extra toes. Never bothered them, or me, so I just left them as they were.
