so i have read the news online and I've seen a lot of extreme winter weather warnings saying how temperatures will reach up to -20 and there will be snow up to 6 ft , it's supposed to be as bad as 1962 . They are also saying there will be food shortages but my main concern is my Guinea pigs I have cats but they will be okay because we can stock up on cat food but what about veg ? If we can't get out of the house and we can't drive to the shops what are we going to do ? Can they live on their pellets water and hay ? The news said the snow will start at the end of October and might not even end till Feb .

I imagine, bad as it may be, that most places would not be snowed in. News papers do tend to over-hype these things, but then I could be completely wrong!
It is generally considered not a good idea to feed them thawed-from-frozen veggies, however, what do other people think of keeping a few frozen items? You can freeze and thaw beans, carrots, broccoli florrets for example. Obviously they must be completely thawed and room temperature, especially for outdoors piggies!
Is this a possible temporary solution at a push?

:D I would not feed piggies veg taken from the freezer. Frozen food can become waterlogged and this should be thrown out. Veg can be kept in the fridge, unless you have a cold larder to keep them in. Watch that they do not attract fruit flies though.

The daily express are always banging on about the weather - I think it's their "drop the dead donkey" story to go to when they want to put something different on their front page - they are hardly ever right anyway.

l dont pay that much heed to wether forcasts, l just know when pigs and me are cold
and l have this handy little central heating timer thingy that l can control how hot it gets

Thank you. I never have, but I have wondered why not. Now I know :)
