Hello, myself and my girlfriend own a little male guinea pig who is approaching 4 years of age! We have recently noticed that he has some sort of eye infection. His eye is very red, bulging, and has a sort of a scab on it. We noticed some debris in his eye and tried to clean it out using water, though we think there may be some small amounts of debris still there. We have also read that although this is probably a serious eye infection, it is highly treatable with eye medication.. We were wondering if there was any advice anyone can offer, besides the obvious veternarian trip. Are there any eye drops we can use that do not require prescriptions(we found some polysporin)? is this at the stage where the eye should be removed?
We not only want to know as much info as we can before we consider taking him to a vet, we also want to know for our own sake!

Please take him to the vet asap,it will probs be very painful for him too...,this is a very sensitive subject to me ,so I would always go straight to the vets, others might have other good ideas ,but the alarm sign is that it is bulging,so please dont delay. :)sx

Take him to a vet asap. This isn't something to meddle with, you'll probably be able to save the sight if its just an eye pokje injury but you need to see someone to see the extent and see someone in first person not internet :)

I would say the same as the others have said take your piggie to the vets it will not cost a lot and it will clear up i :)n no time with the drops the vet will give you :)
Oh and Welcome to the forum :)

Yes, vet please.
