I’ll be taking him to a vet asap but does anyone have an idea on what may have caused this? His right eye is secreting pus(?) but his other eye is clear and his behavior is fine. He’s eating well and doesn’t seem to be in any pain. Except he has a hard time opening his infected(?) eye sometimes.

That looks very sore and definitely needs a very prompt vet trip, today! Sometimes piggies get eye injuries from getting poked in the eye with hay, if treated by the vet quickly they often heal fine but eye injuries can deteriorate fast and time really matters here x

Hi!

Poor boy! That looks like a very sore and infected (ulcerated) eye. Please have him seen as soon as you can; ideally today. Eye treatment and medication is the same as in cats and dogs, but the sooner treatment happens, the easier and quicker recovery. Eye injuries and infections can deteriorate very quickly. It look like a hay poke.

All the best!

Poor boy. Hopefully whatever it is can be treated soon and he can get better. As the treatment is the same as for cats and dogs, you can go to a general vet and not necessarily an exotics vet. Let us know how you get on.

did this come on suddenly if so it's probably hay poke. get him to the vet and i'm sure he'll be ok.
