Heyoo all,

Yesterday whilst checking on my piggies I noticed my little guinea pig Arthur had a seed from his new chew stick stuck in his eye, I removed and cleaned the eye, however today he has been squinting his eye and a what looks like sleep that we get. it is in the corners of his left eye,(his eyes aren't cloudy but still bright and he's alert and active as ever) I've cleaned and rinsed his eye twice today but on checking again tonight he's still squinting, should i take him to the vets or wait to see if it clears? :S

Thank you!

Hi, I'd be inclined to just pop him along to the vet just to be sure nothing is left in there and it's not scratched the eye at all. It could just be sore/irritated, or it could be a touch infected. It is possible to treat "at home" with antibiotic eye drops, but when something has been stuck in the eye, or could still be stuck, better to have the vet check that there's nothing left and to see if it damaged the eye.

Vet will most likely prescribe an eye ointment like Fucithalmic, or chloramphenicol. Good luck. :)

Thank you laura-CCC4 :) I have a vet appointment all booked for tomorrow, his eye however is much better today mind :D
