My dear Smokey has what i am assuming is a nasty eye infection. When it first started we thought it was just a cataract as his eye got cloudy and had a little discharge. This weekend he has taken a turn for the worse. His eye is red and green with a large amount of discharge. He holds his head tilted and seems disoriented. He has not lost his appetite at all but I'm so worried about him. I will be taking him to the vet tomorrow but I'm worried about the bill. His eye seems bad enough that it may need to be removed. This is just breaking my heart, he has had alot of health issues his whole life and is definitely a fighter I'm just scared that we may not have enough money to fix him and might have to have him pts. Please pray for my little guy and if anyone has any experience please share it with me.

Though l have not had a pig that had to have it's eye removed , and l have adopted one eyed and totally blind pigs in the past,
and have two at the moment that live and enjoy life to the full
and also know of two other keeper that have the opp to remove one or even both eyes (they adapt far quicker than we would )
apparently by all accounts and the opp is relatively straight forward and post opp troubles are few and far between .
As for Smokey , do not feel sad that he has lost an eye (assuming it reaches that ).
the loss of an eye will mean little more than the few days it takes him to adjust .

One of my guineas had an eye infection and after 2 courses of antibiotics she finally recovered completely, so please get you piggie to the vet asap as the sooner it's treated the better.
