Hi everyone, just looking for any suggestions of things to ask the vet about later today.

My guinea pig Honey developed an eye problem rapidly last weekend, we noticed her squinting, very wet around the eye, a bit bloodshot, and took her to the vet. She was prescribed two different types of eye ointment/drops and given an injection of painkillers. The eye now looks fine but obviously we're completing the course.

This morning our pet sitter (we're away for new year's) saw blood in two places on their mats. When picking up Honey to do the eye treatment, they checked her over and saw that she had blisters on her back legs. This can't have developed before this Monday, when I checked on them before leaving, and her weight was fine. The pet sitter also said Honey wasn't responding normally, had sat in the same spot all day, eating little food and very lethargic. Her sister waffle is completely fine and acting as normal.

Also to clarify, the pet sitter is coming into our home to clean them out and give them veggies, so it's not a change in environment. However, we had taken them with us to my family's over Christmas, and it was on the way back home that we first noticed honey's eye - it was fine just before we left - so we theorised that she'd managed to damage it because of being in a small carry cage for so long (2 1/2 hrs) although they've done longer journeys than that with us no problems.

We've got a vets appointment for this evening, we can't be back home until very late but the pet sitter is taking her and will phone me in to the appointment. What's freaking me out is why she's suddenly developed two seemingly unrelated issues out of the blue. I'm so scared, I feel awful for having left them with someone else.

Are there any underlying health issues that could cause both these symptoms? Can anyone suggest questions I should ask the vet so we can get the right things investigated?

Thanks in advance

So turns out that honey doesn't have blisters, it's just a bit of redness and nowhere the blood could have come from. Her eye is healing fine. Very confused. She peed at the vets and it was normal. I think she might just have been hiding from the pet sitter because they've been doing her eye drops, which she hates. No one has seen waffle pee, I'm now strongly suspecting that it's her who has actually passed the blood. Going to go home this evening and spend some time watching them, seeing how they act with me and if I can catch waffle peeing.
