Eye Injury? Advice Please!

Hi all, I've just been to give the pigs an afternoon snack and binky's eye looks funny. Any ideas? Is it vets time?
The red mark underneath isn't normally there:

Yes that's what I thought, if it's not it's an eye infection, both I would have thought were pretty easy to solve.
What a gorgeous, piggy.

It looks like it could be an infection of some kind? Has Errol got any symptoms?

Definitely worth making and appointment, I never mess about with eyes just in case!

Errol doesn't seem to but I find he is harder to spot things with because he has black eyes, black fur and black skin.
I'm going to call the vets now and see if they have anything tomorrow
 
Goddammit vets are closed. Going to ring first thing in the morning and try get him in as an emergency apt.

You're right it's much harder to see! Hopefully he's fine though and it's nothing contagious :)

I'm sure he'll be fine til the morning, just keep a close eye (sorry!) on it and as long as it doesn't look swollen, opaque or anything like that he shouldn't need to go to emergency vets. I'm lucky that my vets stay open til 7!
 
Emergency appointment booked for 11:30am - it's not looking worse but it doesn't look any better so best not to take chances :)
Hopefully I'm fretting over nothing because Binky didn't enjoy eye drops last time!
 
And we're done! Vet says it was likely a hay poke. He's got a small laceration on his lower eye "lid" but no ulceration. It looks like he's also got conjunctivitis!
So we've been given Chloramphenicol eye drops and baytril.
That was the first vet that Binky didn't poop on! :D
 
Glad you have got treatment, hopefully should clear up quickly x
 
Thanks guys :) Binky seems a bit grumpy with us but he's otherwise being okay :)
The vet was optimistic that it should clear up fairly quickly so fingers crossed :)
 
Good boy Binky! Well done for not pooping on the vet, they are only trying to help after all. You should feel much better soon with your medication
 
Great that you got him seen today. I never mess around with eyes, they can turn nasty so quickly, but caught early the problems heal very quickly. Good to hear that Binky held back from pooping on the vet. That’s a real sign of approval. Hope all improves very quickly.
 
Quick update for you all - I think Binky has been abducted and this is an imposter! First he didn't poop on the vet and now he's having his medicine with no fuss! :O

He's coming to the corner of the pen to be picked up, sits on my other half's arms whilst keeping his eye wide open and tilting his head up for me and then blinks the drops in - doesn't shake them out!
And he's even been taking the oral antibiotics with no problems - bites on the syringe and waits for me to give him the full dose before letting go!

This can't be my Binky! He normally hates medicine, vets and all things healthcare!
 
Can he teach Donald some manners please? We get the syringe pawed away (my fussiest pigs used to do head moving but none actually pushed it away) and then he keeps spitting some of the baytril out again. He's a stubborn piggy just like his piggy slave lol
