My poor Elsa has injured her eye. It's clouded over and is a blue/white colour. No visable wound on the eye that I can see. She has vets tomorrow as she is still eating and well in herself ( so vet said no need to rush her in out of hours).

I have bathed it and cleaned it. Didn't find any hay or anything.
Never had this type of injury in my other piggies. Just wondering what will happen at the vets ? I like to go armed and know what to ask for x

I am sorry to hear about Elsa's eye injury. It's good you have her booked in at the vets.

The vet should check the eye for any foreign bodies and injury, this should be done by putting a special dye in the effected eye. A course of eye drops and may be antibiotics will be prescribed depending on the severity of the injury.

Good luck

Poor girl! I agree with Claire. Good luck at the vets, I hope it's nothing too serious and she recovers quickly!

Dito to Claire ,
Please let us know how you get on

Any news? Did you get a vets apt?

She was seen by my vet today. She has a ulcer on her eye which looks infected most likely from some sort of eye poke injury.
She's on eye drops three times a day and we have to go back on monday so they can check on it as its quite a nasty one my vet said.
I've removed all bedding hay much to their disgust and given them their fleeces and cozies. They have hay in a rack only now to try and protect Elsa's eye from further damage.
Why is it as soon as you go to give them eye drops they close their eye ?

Hope the drops do the trick for her. If their are two of you then one person holding piggy and the other doing the drops is a good way of trying to do it. Sending lots of healing vibes to Elsa.

Had vets today and she is healing up nicely. Another five days of eyedrops and we should be in the clear :D
