My daughter just shouted to me that Silk had a cut on her face, but when I went to pick her up there was just a bit of hay with a drop of blood on the end.

It looks like it scratched the skin just inside her lower eyelid, there's a little redness there but I can't see any damage to the eyeball and she's happily letting me examine it and pull her eyelids up & down etc so no pain or anything.

Am I ok to just swab the area with cooled boiled water?

Please get the eye looked at by a vet n case of a hay poke, they can check for any damage that you may not see

I agree about getting her to the vet. One of mine developed a bit of cloudiness on his eye. I couldn’t see any physical injury but the vet put dye in and saw an ulcer, caused by a scratch probably from hay. The thinks he did it a few days before there were any symptoms (the cloudiness) but he needed a week of eye medication to fix it.

:agr: Please take her to the vet. Ginger, one of my skinny pigs, was blinking one eye a lot but i couldn't see anything in it. I took him to the vet as i was a little worried. The vet found a piece of hay hidden right up under his eye lid and this had also scratched his eye. Thankfully after a course of antibiotic drops he was fine.
