I have just picked up my little Diego and noticed something funny about his eyes.

Normally I have only seen the white parts of his eyes when he was freaking out getting his medication. Tonight I have noticed the white part of his eye ball is visible along the bottom part of his eye, and I might be paranoid now but his eye does look slightly bulgy (although my OH says it isn't so maybe I'm being worried over nothing). My other piggie Scruff is fine, his eyes are all black as usual... anyone experienced this before?

One of my piggies white is always showing whereas the other two only if they are scared/startled.

Always showing all the way around the eye?

He never used to have such prominent whites, although they are not huge like the pictures of pea eye look. Both eyes are showing the whites but one a little more than the other? I'm really worried, he is always ill :( I just wish he was ok! xx

Without seeing a picture it is hard to sayan but could be the start of an eye infection. I'd pop him to the vets for a check up to be on the safe side. Little Pig is just recovering from an eye infection (he is the king of getting ill, just one thing after another, so I know how you feel) and his started like this. Very easy to clear up though - eye drops twice a day for a few days.

Yes all around the eye. Of course if you are concerned and it is something new then it wouldn't hurt to let a vet have a look. Barbra has always had the white shown whereas Marty Pig only shows his when he is nervous.

it's not fatty eye maybe? it could be so many things........
I agree tho i'd take Diego to the vets for a check up

PAWS CROSSED FOR YOU DIEGO XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Thank you :)

The whites are still quite narrow, nowhere near as thick as the pea/fatty eye pictures so i dont think its that? The swelling seems to have gone down slightly which can only be a good sign.

I wouldn't usually bother you guys and go straight to the vet but the car wont start at the mo so was hoping it was something simple. Looks like it's borrowing a friends car day and back to the vet for us! x

If Suzy or Pebbles see this thread i'm sure they'll comment too :)
BUt ......yeah ask if you can borrow a car.....peace of mind for little Diego xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Sounds like fatty eye or pea eye to me. But get it checked out with a vet. If it is pea eye, then it usually doesn't cause them any discomfort and can be left alone. It's a bit unsightly (pun intended) but doesn't get too big. Parkin has had one for about three years (he's nearly four).

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but i have heard that ear infections can cause their eyes to bulge. Perhaps keep that in mind too. Either way, best to get to the vet if you're worried.

Thank you, it's good to know that if it is pea eye then it's not going to hurt him. Hardly slept and kept checking on him, there is nothing worse than thinking they are in pain is there?

I will look into the ear infection theory too, I did think it may be his teeth but they are fine - never thought of his ears. Thank you piglet and rogers mama :)

It seems much less bulgy this morning, still going to the vet just in case! x
