Over the years I've had piggies suffer from hay poke. In the beginning I always used to take them to the vet and let him remove the hay and give me some drops. These days I just do it myself, bathing the eye with cooled boiled water or saline, and then using eye drops from the vet which I'd saved up from previous treatments.
The drops are called Fucithalmic viscous eye drops (for dogs, cats and rabbits). The packet says discard after 28 days but I admit I always saved them for up to three months incase I needed them. All has been well but now I don't have any of the drops left and I want to buy some eye ointment to put in my medical box for any future cases of hay poke.
It doesn't happen very often, but with several piggies here I want something which I can keep in stock, should the need arise. Can anyone suggest an ointment which I could buy without prescription?
